Week 18: Aric
Okay, so I’m a little behind! No matter, the work will keep coming…. :)

Aric: darling Minnesotan, design buff, all-around sweet person. It has been a privilege getting to know you.

Sherry, when I think of you, the word that comes to mind is “constant.” I admire most your ability to be unwavering in who you are: steadfast, loyal, loving, kind, patient, gentle…and so much more. It is no accident that I and others look to you as mentor, advisor, and beautiful human being!

Dear, dear, dear Abby….there is much to say, friend! You are so gracious, loving, and kind. You are the type of person who touches everyone they meet in some way. You likely don’t realize it, which is part of the beauty of it all.
I have gained so much through our friendship and for that, I am beyond grateful.
Some of the best times I’ve had with you have involved making: food, silly music, art, crafts, scavenger hunts and cardboard cutouts….
Here’s to being makers and friends.

Oh hey, Kari. I’m thinking you probably figured out this week was for you. Thanks for letting me share such an awesome experience with you!
You are a fantastic friend, mother, and (my favorite!) free advice-giver. Most of all, I admire your capacity for being open-minded and inclusive and strive to be more so because of knowing you.
Bonus: You’re pretty freaking funny too.

For this project, each week I’ve mostly tried to let inspiration come, create what comes to mind, then, upon nearing completion of the piece, decide who it is for. With this week, I knew before I put pencil to paper that it would be for Paige. This little painting is something that I’d been meaning to make for a long time for a dear friend with whom I shared so much!
I was inspired by her love of a place. The finished painting is a sort of combined, imagined landscape of a town close to her heart.

Paige, I miss you a lot! You’ll forever be linked with so many of my New York memories. See you soon?
This week was an adventure in folding and cutting!

Eric, you are talented, fun, feisty. Let’s always be running buddies, okay? I promise to always try to keep up.

Kate, consider this a hug! Thanks for always challenging and encouraging me. You are a wise-beyond-years, no-nonsense woman with a sharp wit and most importantly, a willingness to make up stupid songs during car rides. I’m so glad to know you, friend.

With love,
“Grandma”
This week’s embroidery piece was inspired by Michael Carson’s painting, Backstage. His artwork is amazing! Full image here.

Petra, you’re always a vision! It only seemed right that this week be yours. Thanks for your kind, encouraging words and gentle, caring nature.

Alex = IND —> DEN. Alex, bon voyage! Indy will miss you. Enjoy the journey and may the destination bring you many adventures.

It was going to be a sewing week, but inspiration hit at a hardware store, of all places. After this week, I have a new-found respect for those that endeavor to letter by hand. It’s not easy!
Until next week…..
